Day 02 / Chennai - Kanchipuram – Mammalapuram

Drive Chennai to Kanchipuramuram - known as the Golden City of a Thousand Temples, is one of the oldest towns in India. It is famous for both its temples, many of them remarkably well preserved and for its hand-woven silks. Kanchipuram is one of the seven sacred cities of India and it is the only one associated with both Shiva and Vishnu. Visit Ekambareshwar Temple, Kailashnath Temple, Kamakshi Temple, the Vaikunthaperumal Temple, all built in the 7th and 8th centuries. With a weaving tradition dating back to the Pallava era (when silk was the royal cloth), Kanchipuram is justly famous for its particularly fine silk saris, embellished with stunning patterns. Day 03 / Mammalapuram

After breakfast enjoy full day sightseeing of Mammalapuram .Visit the seven pagoda style shore temples, lashed by the waves of the sea and the five rathas or temple chariots, a group of monolithic monuments & animal figures carved out of solid rock, the earliest known examples of Dravidian architecture. They were constructed in a single century long burst of creative enthusiasm, starting in the reign of Narasimhavarman 1 (AD 630-68). Day 04 / Mammalapuram - Chennai – Departure

Today drive to Chennai(Madras). Later proceed on a half day sightseeing tour of Chennai covering St.Thomas Church, Kapaleshwar Temple, Fort St. George and drive pass the Marina Beach. After finishing city tour transfer to airport to take the flight/ train to onward destination.

Day 01 : Arrival at Tiruchirapalli (Trichy)

On your arrival at Tiruchirapalli Airport?railway Station , you will be greeted by our representatives who will then assist you in hotel transfer and also the check in formalities. After having some rest we will be proceeding to Kumbakonam which is at a distance of 100 km from Trichy and it will take hardly 2 hours to reach there by road. From here our Navagraha temples tour will start. Navagraha Temples are basically a cluster of nine temples which are dedicated to seven planets and the other two are dedicated to the Sun God and the Moon God. These Navagraha temples are situated in different villages which are at a commutable distance. On day one we will visit Chandran Temple in Triangular which is dedicated to Moon God, and then we will go to Alangudi to visit Guru Temple. Sukra temple and Sooriyan temple, dedicated to Sun God are situated in Kanjanoor. Dinner and overnight stay will be at hotel.

Day 02 : Kumbakonam – Thirunallar – Kumbakonam – (90 km / 02 hrs one way drive)

At a distance of 90 km from Kumbakonam is Thirunagesharam, which will be our first destination on second day of Navagraha temples tour. We will start early after having our breakfast. The temple in Thirunagesharam is dedicated to Rahu and then there is Saneeshwarar temple at Thirunallar village which is dedicated to Saturn. Keezhaperumpallam village has Kethu temple and after visiting this temple, we will drive back to hotel at Kumbakonam. Dinner and overnight stay will be at hotel in Kumbakonam during Navagraha tour.

Day 03 : Kumbakonam - Vaithiswaran Koil – Kumbakonam ( 50 km / 01 hr one way drive)

On the day third day we will start early for the remaining temples of Navagraha temples tour. We will first visit Vaithiswaran Koil which is a Sevvai Temple and then we will head towards Thiruvenkadu where there is Budhan temple. In each of these Navagraha temples, planets are worshiped as gods. After this visit we will head back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 04 : Kumbakonam - Tiruchirapalli (Trichy) (100 km / 02 hrs)

On the last day of our tour we will go back to Trichy where our representative will assist you in checking out formalities and escort you to the airport from where you will board a flight for your next destination.

Day 01 / Chennai

Arrive Chennai - the gateway to southern India, established in 1639 by the East India Company, is one of the oldest cities of the country. Assistance and transfer to hotel. After lunch at hotel, half day sightseeing tour, visiting Gandhi Memorial, Kala Kshetra, Mylapore temple and Marine beach. Dinner and overnite at hotel.

Day 02 / Chennai – Tirupathi –(154kms-3 ½ hours)

After breakfast, proceed to Tirupathi. Lunch at local restaurant Tirupathi is a temple town known for the famous ancient temple of Lord Venkateswara (Lord of seven hills or Balaji, as he is affectionately known ) on the top of the 860mts high Tirumala hills. The temple of Lord Venkateswara is not only believed to be amongst the oldest temples in the country, but also the richest of them all . Legend has it that Lord Venkateswara borrowed money from the divine treasurer Kubera for his wedding expenses. He is still paying back this debt which is why the pilgrims donate generously to the temple funds. Overnight at Tirupathi.

Day 03 / Tirupathi -Chennai - Kanchipuram – Mamallapooram

After breakfast drive to Kanchipuram ( 76 kms/01.50 hrs ) – is the ancient capital of the Pallavas famous as a city of 1000 Temples and still has 124 shrines. The first temple dedicated to Shiva was built in the 7th and 8th century and has paintings on the walls. Temples of Ekambaswara , Kailasanatha, Sri Kamakshi and Varadarajaswamy are of interest. Kanchipuram is also famous for its silks. Lunch at local restaurant and later drive to Mamallapooram and check in at hotel. Afternoon visit the city - built in 7th century, earlier called Mahabalipooram, this ancient Pallava port, is today the sight of several antique sculptural marvels. In this ancient seaside town , shrines and huge sculptures cut-out of rocks more than 1200 years back during the reign of Pallava Kings in the region can be seen. The rock carvings depicting mythological episodes - of demons, Gods and animals in battle and others - are truly poems in stone. The only shore temple which remains here is the spectacular two - spired shrine, unique because it houses both Lord Shiva and the Lord Vishnu in its sanctum-sanctorum. Dinner and overnite at hotel.

Day 04 / Mamallapooram - Tiruvannamalai – Pondicherry

After breakfast drive to Tiruvannamallai(112kms/03hrs)- a pilgrim centre with an ancient temple of Lord Shiva. After lunch at local restaurant, proceed to Pondicherry (131kms/ 3.5hrs), which carries a strong whiff of the French presence in India. This erstwhile French colony on the east coast of South India merged with the rest of the country in 1954. Legend says that Pondicherry is the place where St.Agasthaya settled down. Day 05 / Pondicherry

After breakfast drive to visit Aurbindo Ashram, the city of dawn, which is 10kms north of Pondicherry. This ashram promotes Aurbindo's ideas in bringing about a synthesis of Yoga and modern science, so as to unite the spirit and matter. Day 06 / Pondicherry - Chidambaram – Tanjore

After breakfast drive to Chidambaram(65kms/1.5hrs) also called as Thillai, which has the famous Nataraja temple with the root of the sanctum-sanctorum covered with golden plates is located in the centre of the town covering an area of 40 acres. In this temple, postures from the Bharatnatayam form of dance are depicted in sculpture. Natraja is Lord Shiva as a cosmic dancer. After lunch at local restaurant, drive to Thanjavur (104kms/03hrs) enroute visiting the Brass factory at Kumbakonam. Tanjore once the capital of Chola Kings, has the Brahadeswara temple(or the big temple of God).The temple tower rises to a height of 15mts from a square base of 29 mts and then tapers off, making a total of 66mts.Checkin, dinner and overnite at hotel.

Day 07 / Tanjore - Trichy (54kms/02hrs)

As Hanuman did not return when the auspicious hour was approaching, Sita made a sand Lingam so that worship could be performed in time, which is where the present day Ramanatha Swamy Temple stands close to sea on the eastern side of the island.
